Chile is the only South American OECD member and is recognised as the strongest performing economy in the region. The country has the highest human development index and GDP per capita in Latin America.
The Chilean Government has helped to increase the interest in postgraduate studies abroad with their Becas Chile scholarship program. BMI attracts more than 6,500 visitors to their student recruitment fairs in Chile annually. Chilean students are mainly looking for language and postgraduate courses. Although, the scholarship programme has fuelled interest in all types of overseas study, with undergraduate courses becoming increasingly popular in recent years.
Favourite destinations for Chilean students are the United States, France, Australia, United Kingdom and Spain; BMI will hold its next Expo-Estudiante recruitment fairs in Santiago and Concepción in April 2015.
